The Flagebarer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has held a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Hiroshi Yoshimoto, and his team, including JICA.
Dr Bawumia described the meeting as “productive”
Their discussions focused on strengthening our bilateral ties and deepening cooperation in key areas, including digitalisation, fintech, and artificial intelligence.
They also discussed flood control and methods to combat the illegal small-scale mining (galamsey) menace.
The former Vice President thanked H.E. Yoshimoto and his team for the courtesy of their visit.
In an unrelated matter, Dr Bawumia has wished Ghanaian youth a happy International Youth Day.
On this International Youth Day, he said to students, artisans, young professionals, entrepreneurs, farmers and those still searching for opportunities.
The circumstances of the youth may be different, but the aspirations are often the same, he said.
“To find decent jobs, build something of their own, live with dignity and look to the future with confidence.
“I know these hopes have been tested. Jobs are not easy to find, the cost of starting and sustaining a business is high, and too many young people feel uncertain about what lies ahead.
“But I remain convinced that Ghana’s greatest strength is the talent and determination of our young people. Our responsibility is to make sure opportunity keeps pace with their ambition.
“Different contexts, common aspirations and a shared belief that Ghana can be a place where young people build the future they want,” Dr Bawumia said.
